i am approaching my 37th week in my pregnancy and i am getting scared to death.
early on in my pregnancy i guess i heard too many horror stories from friends about their birthing experiences and took em as "just learning about different birth stories." but now i feel like they're catching up to me. one thing i'm scared of is what if my body rejects the epidural and i end up having to give birth naturally? which is something i'm def not prepared to do...
brett and i took a little birth class they offer for free here in tooele and turns out tooele has a high rate of teen pregnancies for utah and the class mostly consisted of just that, teen preggos. the class was not in depth and the only thing i remember is the teacher showing us what forceps look like and my jaw dropping to the floor.
i pray it won't have to come to that. but yeah i didn't feel very confident leaving that class.
at my dr's appt last week the doc said i could have the baby anytime now and since then i feel like i've been on edge. i have that feeling like i had the night before my wedding.
i was at my parents' house and i had stayed up till 3 in the morning crying because i was so nervous knowing that my life was going to change dramatically. i definitely wasn't regretting my groom choice (which was the best freakin choice i ever made) it was just that i let my anxiety take over.
everyone says that your life turns upside down when you start having children and i believe that's what'll happen to us. i mean, in just a few weeks, brett and i will be holding this baby that is the combination of both of us. holy crap.
the anxiety is starting to take over me now, not knowing when my baby will come.
i don't feel ready at all, i feel like we still need so much more stuff, even though we have so much already!
and honestly it's just the little things, and i think about ALL the little things we need ALL at once and i get overwhelmed and i FREAK out. the nursery isn't ready and decorated yet and what if we don't have enough diapers?
and then, brett gives me lots of big hugs and kisses and tells me something like this, "you don't need to worry about all these little things. when you give birth you'll be fine, the dr and nurses will all be there to help. and as for the baby items, we'll get as much as we can and after the baby's born, i can go get what we need when we need it...YOU DON'T NEED TO STRESS." then he gives me more hugs and kisses.
SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
that's why i married this boy. he's my anchor back down to the real world.
it also makes me feel really good when he wears this.
i am ready to have my body back though, i feel as if the baby's starting to get crammed in there and his kicks to my ribs don't exactly tickle. i can't wait to be able to bend down to pick something up without groaning and i seriously can't wait to sleep on my back. oh how i miss it so.

it's not that i don't like change,
i'm just often scared of it.

Don't worry. You'll do just fine! Seriously. All of that won't even matter once you're holding that baby. You forget about it all. It's totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteAs far as diapers go, you should sign up for amazon mom online to get discounted diapers. I order ours through there and they're cheaper than the store brands. I'm already stocked for our kid, and she's not coming for two more months! (Seriously, though, if you want help, I can help you)
number one! you are SO CUTE! i love love love LOVE that picture of you!
ReplyDeletenumber two! bretts shirt is awesome, and its even better that he actually wears it! so great!

I am the exactly the same way. so yes thank goodness for calm supportive husbands!! don't worry if your epi does not work. mine didn't and it was not the end of the world, it was just not what i prepared for. giving birth is awesome, but yet painful. But i would do it all over again in a hearbeat today. so that should say something! don't worry about not having anything for the baby. babies really don't need much. i bought very minimal and i still feel like i have so much things we barely use. I can't wait for you to have this baby:)
ReplyDeleteOh please don't worry about it! I regret all the wasted time I spent freaking out too because it was time I should have been enjoying in that stage of life. Believe me, when the time comes you will be so excited and ready to do anything for that little boy that you wont even notice the stuff you thought would be such a big deal. So excited for you, it is really really awesome!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful picture and girl....i feel ya. no worries...it'll all be fine. and it's nice to have that wonderful hubby by your side...he'll definitely help you through. everyone's saying this, but it'll all truly be worth it in the end. hang in there :)
ReplyDeleteI am so scared about giving birth too!! I'm terrified! I'm not pregnant yet, but I am so scared for when that finally happens. My mom always gives the advice to think how really little weak girls give birth all the time so, I should be able to do it too. You can do it! :)
ReplyDeletei felt the same way! i was terrified to give birth, but after my contractions started i didnt care what the doctors had to do, or what needed to happen, i just wanted them to get him out of me! im sure you will do great! i hope you have a very smooth and quick labor and delivery and an even quicker recovery! good luck girl! you can do it!
ReplyDeletealyssa! that is such a gorgeous pic! i'm so excited for you! i'm sure you will be a darling and wonderful mama!
ReplyDeletei can totally picture me writing a post like this when we start having kids. i am horrible with change. but this will be a wonderful change. i can't wait to see pics!
xoxo.
You are going to do great! You are braver than you know. And really, there is something so natural about holding a baby, especially your own baby, you will do so great! I am so excited to see this little one with some of you and some of brett! Thinking about you :)
ReplyDeleteShow that hospital bed whose boss! Knock em outta the world girlfriend. Everton is going to be such a stud. Keepin ya in my thoughts and prayers these next few weeks. :)
ReplyDeleteim totally the same way. change scares the crap out of me and makes me soooo anxious and stressed.
