4 months

4 months!
the stats-13lbs 25 1/2in
i promise i won't freak out like i usually do in previous posts about how fast he's growing.
but what i will do is talk about all the big and small milestones/random stuff that's been goin on as i have been doing for his month by month posts.

he's getting so squawky!
today was really the first time at church where he was making noise every hour (and it wasn't from his butt).
his hair has truly gotten longer since birth.
we've been getting more and more strangers coming up to us (from across the restaurant) and commenting on how much hair he has.
i don't wanna cut his hair till he's about a year.
i really wanna see how long it'll get.
but it'll probably get straggly if we wait till then.
we'll see!

he loves snacking on his feet like cheeseburgers.

people ask us all the time what his name is and then we proceed to tell them that his name is everton.  they then ask what we call him for short.  his name is only 3 syllables people.  and there really isn't a "shorter name" we could give him anyways, what, ev? ton?  eevee?  pretty sure that's a pokemon.
so i've come up with a few nicknames i like to tell people...
-little E (from ailinh)
-everton the great
-evertonion
-or my fav, grand master E
but he shall always be known as everton!

denial

i'm in it.
in everton's closet i organized his clothes in 3 separate groups.  the first group being newborn and 0-3 months.  the second is 3-6 months and 6-9 months.  and the third is 9-18 months.  i keep grabbing clothes from the 0-3 months rack when he'll be 4 months this week.  some of them do still fit him and a lot of them are just plain onesies i have him wear around the house and they're still pretty big.  when i have brett pick an outfit for everton he goes for the 3-6 month rack.  i call brett crazy and tell him that it totally won't fit.  then when we put the little outfit on him oftentimes it either fits perfectly or is even a bit snug!  or when brett wanted to put everton in this number...
i started to cry.  he just looked like a little man and it FREAKS me out!
we just got our shipment of diapers from amazon mom.com and they're size 2!  he's growing too fast and i know it's gonna get worse for me when he starts school.  seeing all of my friends' statuses saying that their kids are going to school makes me sad already.
i'm probably gonna have many mental breakdowns in the future.  probably each time he goes up a size in diapers.
our pediatrician said that we can start feeding him rice cereal between 4-6 months and brett is wanting to do that soon.  it's so weird cuz i've found that breastfeeding is honestly not my most favorite thing ever.  it hurt like a mother when i started breastfeeding (it's fine now) and i feel truly enslaved to him exactly every 3 hours.  BUT YET, i don't wanna stop.  i definitely won't be those kinda moms feeding their kid when they're like, 4 years old but i feel like i'm giving him the absolute best nutrition in the world and it really is a bonding thing for me.  i'm grateful that i am able to breastfeed (and breastfeeding has helped me to lose pretty much all my baby weight hollllaaaaa) but i can't imagine not needing to.   even though when we start him on rice cereal it'll be only once a day or something.  i hope i'm not sounding like such a worry wart in every blog post, esp when it comes to baby stuff.  but it's ok, i'm still a new mom.
and look!  he wants cookies already!  is my milk too boring now??
or wants some cookies with his milk perhaps?
ha.

our bishop back in rexburg always said that you're still considered a newlywed when you've been married under 10 years.  do you think that applies to babies?  is everton still my newborn when he hits 10 months old?  10 years old ?!?!?
i say yes!

3 year

it's our 3 year anniversary!
every anniversary i think a lot about the past year.
you know on our last anniversary i was pregnant with everton but didn't know it yet?
i can't believe we had a child this past year.
our lives have changed so much since having him and can't imagine life without him.
i like thinking about our wedding day.  how FREAKING hot it was and how FREAKING nervous i was about getting married.  i mean, i almost threw up on the way to the temple, i almost threw up in the temple.  but right after being sealed to my lover, i felt peace.  and my stomach stopped jumping up and down my throat.  i have never once regretted marrying brett and am so excited to see what our future years together brings.  how grateful i am to have a husband who can bless our children when they need him and baptize them when they turn 8.  oh how i ADORE him.
this lovely tuesday started out with brett and i taking turns watching everton while the other sleeps in a little more or takes a nap.  even though everton sleeps like a dream through the night, unfortunately he doesn't sleep in till 12pm like i used to do.  i sure do miss that.
and as i started waking up from my morning nap in comes brett with breakfast!  breakfast in bed!  i don't think he's ever done that before.  it was pancakes and eggs.  brett makes awesome pancakes and never burns them and they're always in the most perfect shape.
i went downstairs and lo and behold, ROSES!
along with a cute card, the movie toy story, and orange soda.
we're trying to cut down on soda but have decided that a soda once in awhile isn't bad, so seeing that orange soda sitting there makes me jump for joy!  i'm seriously addicted to orange soda.  whooooo loooooovessssss orange soda??? i do.)
anyways, it was an awesome morning.
we got ready for our day which included seeing
the UP HOUSE!
the pixar movie
the replica in herriman, utah.
it was just the cutest thing.  i was so giddy at seeing this big colored house.  something that should belong in a disney park actually resides just 30mins from us.
turns out we had JUST missed it by 2 days when they put up hundreds of balloons at the top.
suck.
but whatever.
i was in love.  i'd say UP is my favorite pixar movie and i can't wait to watch it with everton when he gets a bit older.  they also replicated all the rooms too, at least the ones they showed in the movie.  click here for a cute  video showing a lot of the details inside the house.

i could totally live here.  it's actually for sale right now.  asking price is a measly $399,000!
but i think all the attention you would get could get annoying.  esp with people like us coming up and taking pictures.

then after visiting the UP house we went to try out dickey's bbq in west valley.  brett, being the texan he is, thought that this place was pretty good for a bbq outside of texas.
we binged on meat slathered in bbq sauce.  i loved the smoked woodsy smell in there and i think even the smells got to everton cuz he was drooling so much.  everton still smells like a campfire.
why did the kid tag along on our anniversary date you may ask?
babysitting plans fell through and it was too late to call/ask anyone.  :(
as much as i didn't wanna have to sit in the back shaking a rattle the entire time trying to calm everton down, i'm glad we just decided to go out anyways cuz i'll be darned if i don't!
but it was good.
here's to a trillion billion more years with this man!

SPOILED

i've been in such a huge rut lately.
my family started their drive back to west virginia the day after everton's blessing after being in utah for a WHOLE month.
and i miss them terribly.
my parents spent time here in tooele with us and time down in ephraim with my sister kyla, and when they were here with us maaaaan was i spoiled.  my parents love to cook and hey, if they wanna cook, i let them whenever they want.  bad thing with that is, since they left, i don't freakin wanna cook at all.
lately dinner has consisted of pizza (brett's not disappointed with this), crappy fast food, and my favorite, nutella sandwiches.
laundry's been piling up and i've barely been doing the dishes.
BAHHHHHH i sound so lazy.
of course everton is alright, he's well-fed and has a clean butt.
BUT today i cooked my first real meal in a LONG time.
just kielbasa sausage and potatoes, but hey, i freakin cooked right?
i wrote out my grocery list, planned meals, and have been slowly getting laundry done.
it does feel good to really get back into the swing of things.
i can't believe how much our lives got so busy this past month.
we've been hanging out with family all over utah, like ephraim, spanish fork, salt lake city, and bear lake (quite exotic places huh?)
all the driving and sleeping in different places i'm afraid had messed up with everton's sleeping schedule for a few days.
but now we're back in tooele for good and everton's back to his schedule.
which lately, he's been spoiling me too.  for the past 2 months he's been sleeping like a dream.  sleeping from 10ish-6ish.  which has been amazing not having to wake up every 3 hrs when he was a newborn.  but for the past few days he's been adding on about 2-3 more hours in the morning!
(i know i'm totally jinxing this by telling you about it and he'll probably wake up tonight at 4.30)
this kind of spoiling, i can get really used to.

and oh yeah, the kid's been rolling over!
from his back to his tummy
holy crap.

he's just unstoppable now.

the blessing

when brett and i were living in rexburg and going to our married student ward it seemed everyone was pregnant or had like, 3 kids within the first few years of marriage.
and brett and i had decided that at least while we were in college we weren't gonna have kids.
some people could handle having kids while going to school and such but we wanted some time for ourselves before we started having kids.
anyways, it felt like every sunday there was a baby blessing.  and a lot of those sundays i see all the families who have flocked from all over to see their newborn grandchild, niece, nephew, etc, get blessed.  and i would get so weepy.
i would cry because i wanted MY family to be there.  my family surrounding me with love and support.
i wish i could blame those tears on pregnancy or breastfeeding hormones, but i didn't have either at that time.
i only get to see my family once a year and seeing these huge groups of families made me miss my own family even more.  i hope i don't sound selfish or whiny but that's just how much my family means to me.  i love them all so freakin much and wish i could see them more often.
then again, i did not have a baby just so i could see my family!
but on sunday the 31st i felt truly blessed to have TONS of family here supporting us as brett blesses our firstborn son.
i had those fears that everton would freak out or poop his white tux during the blessing.
but right before brett took him up, everton fell asleep.
and was asleep during the entire blessing.
talk about miracles.
it was the sweetest thing, watching my husband bless our sweet baby boy.
i'm so grateful for the gospel in our lives, knowing that i'll be with my family forever and ever.
and after the blessing we had a luncheon in the cultural hall of a different church building.
we had about 50 of our closest friends and family there!

there was just so much love.
the brown filipino side.
the amazing jones family

the amazing caldwell family (the white side)

the beautiful filipino cousins!  just missing 6 more

my niece madison, i love her.

brett and our nephew tyler.

the grandparents.

we threw cousin hazel back into her blessing outfit.
i think they'll be good buds.

thanks so much to all those who came and supported us, us as in, everton.
we love our dear friends and family so much and could not live without them.
families are forever ya know?
