alyssa goes to her first comic con-THURS

i got to attend my first ever comic con here in salt lake city!  and salt lake comic con broke the record in attendance for first comic con EVER!  i bought my 3 day pass ticket back in june not really knowing what to expect and it was not what i was expecting at all!  it blew me away.  the geek in me exploded seeing all the costumes, celebs, booths, and panels.  i'm so glad i got to go with my sister, erin and we're hoping kyla and our mom can come with us next year!  brett would rather ingest lead paint than come with me to this geekfest but that's ok, he can watch the kids.

i did have to take everton for a few hours on thurs till brett picked him up after work, which brett's office is RIGHT next to the salt palace.  super convenient. but i learned that everton is a bit too young for this kind of thing.  i took him with me to the "JRR Tolkien to Peter Jackson: A look at All Things Middle Earth" panel and he got so antsy i kept trying to entertain him with food and cars.  he just made a crumbly mess with the food and he was making loud VROOM noises with the cars almost the whole time.  i can't wait to take him when he is really into all this kinda stuff like i am.  i think he did like gawking at some of the crazy costumes though.
once brett picked him up i was free from diapers and cars for the rest of the day.
erin and i proceeded to "The Incredible Hulk: Lou Ferrigno" panel and got to sit in the front row.  what an amazing and inspiring man.

then after that panel we went to check out the weta workshop booth in the convention center.
weta workshop is a company that peter jackson used to create the lord of the rings films and continues their work on a ton of other movies nowadays.

erin and i definitely geeked out over all the things middle earth.

and we got to see this guy, william kircher!  he plays the dwarf, bifur, in the hobbit movies.
pretty sure we heard him talk more than he's ever talked or will talk in the hobbit films and he has an awesome accent.

we spent the rest of the evening seeing just a quarter of the convention floor then it was time to go.

end of day 1!

fam pics 2013

here are the rest of our fam pics that my best friend charlene took.  again, this was her first photo shoot and again, i thought these turned out wonderfully.

quick story though, RIGHT as we got to the location before the shoot, i ran out of the car and totally yakked up my kfc dinner.  and charlene saw the whole thing.  blehhhhhh.  well she's seen many sides of me throughout the years she's known me, so why not add pregnancy nausea to the list.
my eyes got watery and swollen, and that's when the blood vessels around my eyes burst so some of that started to show through my makeup.  props to charlene for using computer magic to fix mah face!

thanks a ton to charlene!

on another note, we took everton to see his first movie in theaters, Planes!

he was mesmerized by the big screen and junked out on popcorn the entire time, good to know i have a future movie buddy to see films with that brett wouldn't care for.

5 year

5 years 5 years 5 years!

hitting 5 years of marriage sounds like a huge accomplishment to me.  5 years is longer than high school and i thought high school was dreadfully long!  but these past 5 years have gone by so fast, maybe it's b/c i'm wonderfully happier than i was in high school.
seriously can't believe we've been married for 5 years.  life has changed so much since we were married.  we would never have thought that we'd be living in tooele, ut with a toddler and a kid on the way in 5 years.  i'm still madly in love with brett.  of course you have your ups and downs in marriage but its the ups that make being married worth it and the downs are what strengthen it.  i love that he supports me and comforts/cuddles me whenever i need it. and i actually love how much of an excel nerd he's become.  he's such a cute daddy to everton, they love to wrestle and play cars together.  i'm sort of hoping this next kid is a boy so they could have another member to wrestle with.
brett is my sweetheart.  it's so easy to forget that you still need to work on your marriage and your love for each other as kids, work, and life in general gets in the way but we strive to make time to spend with each other.  even if it just means cuddling on the couch watching netflix.

to commemorate our 5th year anniversary and to update our family pictures we had my best friend charlene take some pics for us.  she's an up and coming photographer and i think she did amazingly for her first photo shoot.

totally snagged this idea from beloved pinterest.  i love progression photos so you'll be seeing this picture again in 5 years, with us 5 years older and we'll have been married for 10 years.  HOLY CRAP.

STILL IN LOVE!

there are more pics of my sweet fam of charlene's blog if you wanna see, but i'll post more pics when i get a hard copy of em.

so to celebrate our 5th year of marriage we honestly didn't really know what we were doing until the day of.  pregnancy is such an energy sucker so i was totally satisfied with just going to a nice dinner.
but even then we didn't know where we wanted to go.  cheesecake sounded so good so we were set to go to the cheesecake factory.  we dropped everton off with erin at her new apt in slc and set off for city creek.

but of course, city creek's cheesecake factory was packed and the wait time was ridiculous.  this pregnant woman was HOUNGRY.  we decided that the wait time wasn't worth it and we were trying to figure out where to eat ASAP.  we eyed this italian restaurant nearby the cheesecake factory and decided to try it out.  i like trying new restaurants so i was excited.  it's called brio tuscan grille and holy crap we're so glad we decided to come here instead of the cheesecake factory.  the service was so good and the food was even better.  definitely coming back here again.

i didn't get my cheesecake but we got this evil piece of chocolate cake instead.  the fetus most likely fell into a sugar coma after this.

the date was wonderful and much needed.  i got worn out just walking to the restaurant and back to the car (maybe it was all that food we just stuffed ourselves with) so we called it a night.  we went back to erin's to pick up our bundle of energy and big points goes to erin!  she had changed her first poopy diaper.  it's always traumatizing changing your first diaper full of poop, at least i think it is.

big thanks to erin for babysitting  and for cleaning everton's butt!!

and big thanks, kisses, hugs, and cans of dr. pepper to brett for sticking with me for 5 years and here's to eternity more!

p.s. and happy anniversary to my adorable parents!

KNOCKED UP

well the time came for when brett and i wanted to add to our brood.
and indeed we did.
i'm 15 weeks pregnant, due at the end of jan.

i found out that i'm with child at the end of may.  my sister has been living with us for a few months now and when she got her monthly gift from mother nature and i didn't, i knew something's up.  and pretty much as soon as i found out i started getting texts and calls from loved ones asking me if i'm pregnant.  it's like the universe is in tune with my uterus or maybe it's because i was telling everyone that we were going to start trying as soon as our trip out east was over.  i most definitely believe/hope it's the latter.

we're ecstatic and everton has no clue what's going on.  i'm sure he does notice how much lazier his mom has gotten though.  we've attempted to tell him what's happening and he goes on to grunt and make car sounds.  HE STILL DOESN'T TALK.  but he has been throwing out a few words here and there.  anyways, this pregnancy has been a little different from everton's time in the womb.  i feel like as soon as i found out i was pregnant with everton i was sick right away and was sick the entire first trimester.  but this time i was like, ok awful nausea, when are ya coming??  lo and behold it did. yayyyy.  i was barfing everyday for 2 weeks and then it started to die down as i approached the second tri.  but towards the end there every time i yaked the blood vessels around my eyes would burst.  holy awful.  i'm still trying to make them go away.

and let's be honest, being pregnant with a rowdy toddler boy really sucks.  my sweet everton loves to jump on me while i'm lazing about on the couch and his elbows and knees turn into little daggers digging into my body.  but bless him, i put on a pixar or some kind of car movie and he snuggles up next to me under the blankets, i love it.  poor kid though, since my parents left we haven't really been outside lately.  but i'm SOOO exhausted from growing a child.  hopefully i'll get more energized soon and we'll go out more.

we did get to go up to bear lake this past weekend and hang out with some of brett's fam.

everton did a lot better on the boat this time around.

everton did pretty well on the tube too.

so yeah, that's that.
my eggo is preggo again and we went to bear lake.
and i think everton will be an excellent big brudduh.

photo dump it to krumpit

it is summer.
i've realized that lately i've been blogging like, once a month.
we've been busy.
so sue me.
but it's aiight.
my parents went back home to wv so i have time now to get back on the ol' blog.
we're been having a blast in the sun; everton has been getting brown all over, besides his cute little bum.
so i'm about to dump a bunch of photos on ya on our latest outings.

SEVEN PEAKS WATER PARK-PROVO

we finally transitioned everton to a toddler bed and this was how his first night went.  the next day we got the biggest pool noodle available and tucked it under his fitted sheet. now he falls off the bed just some of the time.  he must be hurling himself over that noodle to fall off but if it prevents him from falling most of the time i'll keep it!

THE LIVING PLANET AQUARIUM-SANDY

my freaking adorable nephew, baby fox

4TH OF JULY

the pool in spanish fork.
everton loves loves loves the water and loves going down the water slide with his grandpa even more.

GLENN BECK'S MAN IN THE MOON SHOW

it rained and hailed while we were in line, making our clothes and blankets SOAKING wet and freaking cold.  but Glenn Beck is lucky that his show made up for the coldness.  it was pretty dang good.

my sisters and i at baby fox's baby blessing.

the kid at city creek mall's play place.
darn his smile!

and the dump is done.
